What is Compnet (CN)?

CompNet is the Global Jiu-Jitsu League formed by Gracie Barra Team members dedicated to achieving excellence through competitive Jiu-Jitsu.

Designed to promote a positive competitive culture of high-level Jiu-Jitsu, mutual respect, and sportsmanship, CN Tournaments have become the preferred competitive stage for Gracie Barra athletes of all ages and levels.

A year-long season with local, regional, national, and international tournaments happening all over the world creates an exciting path for GB Athletes, GB Schools, and regions within Gracie Barra to come together to compete, challenge one another and strive together.

Each year, the Season is concluded with the Global Awards Ceremony where top athletes, schools, and regions are recognized for their distinguished performances.

The CN Global Ranking connects all tournaments worldwide unifying athletes, schools, and regions on an exciting dispute for the top spots of each season.

Our History

Competition has long been seen as a vital part of a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner’s journey.  Master Carlos Jr. saw competition as a tool to help his students reach their full potential while strengthening the bond between them. This is the core motivation that drove the development of Gracie Barra into one of the most accomplished competitive teams in the history of our sport.

From In-House Trials to a Jiu-Jitsu League

The roots of CompNet, or simply CN, go way back into the early nineties when Master Carlos Gracie Jr. used to host in-house tournaments (trials) to select the top competitors of each division to represent Gracie Barra at the state, national and international competitions.

Gracie Barra grew from a local Jiu-Jitsu school to a global community, which enabled CompNet to be developed into a worldwide network of Jiu-Jitsu tournaments—starting with events in Brazil, the United States, Canada, England, and Australia.

Many of the athletes who started their competitive careers on Gracie Barra's in-house tournaments grew and went on to become Jiu-Jitsu super-stars, winning World Titles in some of the most renowned Jiu-Jitsu and MMA leagues.

In 2008, the first CompNet was held at the GB Headquarters in Irvine, California. Since then, CompNet has expanded, hosting more tournaments each year.  The expansion started in the western states of the United States, then expanded, reaching other countries such Australia, United Kingdom, and Brazil.

THE BIRTH OF THE CN GLOBAL JIU-JITSU LEAGUE

In 2022, CompNet is evolving from a collection of tournaments scattered worldwide to a unified Global Jiu-JItsu League with a unified division and rule setting, Coordinated Season Calendar, Global Athlete Rankings, and Ranking Awards. The CompNet Global Jiu-Jitsu League was launched, with a record breaking 16 regions across 5 continents where we expect to host close to 50 tournaments.
